The Ghosts of Las Vegas examines the people who arrived in this city of lights, wealth, glamour, and excitement, hoping to gain riches, only to find themselves penniless and destitute. They have become ghosts in this city, much like the apparitions walking the streets of other cities in this country and elsewhere in the world – they are what society deems unfit or unworthy of recognition, they are the homeless.
The subjects of this photographic journey come from a diverse set of backgrounds and places, and each carries his/her own history. Each individual's thoughts and the tales of why and how they arrived at this destination are indicative throughout the series, not only through the pictures of each person’s impoverishment, loneliness, and isolation but also through their own words. These souls have shared themselves with me, and I, in turn, have shared them with you.
