In the southwestern United States, the Mojave Desert stands as an austere yet comforting realm, capable of invoking altered states of consciousness through its stark solitude. Throughout my journeys into this arid expanse over the past three years, my attention gravitated toward the yucca plants in their twilight stage. Within this unique backdrop, these yuccas, seeming almost animate and human in scale, inspired my mind to fashion them as elders, aliens, phantoms, mystics, monarchs, warriors, victims, seekers, and nomads, silently traversing the desert's expanse.
In spite of its minimal and severe facade, the desert cradles a delicate ecosystem. Recently, a grievous fire has reshaped a substantial stretch of this Mojave terrain, including the very realm where I captured these remarkable plants.
