I have portrayed 16 young men (10 shown) that belong to a diverse group of close friends of my 23 year old son. They all have a strong relation to each other and to Amsterdam Zuid, a peaceful, beautiful privileged neighbourhood. They either lived or went to school there. In this series I would like to invite the viewer to have a close look at these boys and observe one’s own ideas and prejudices, hopefully to return to the mere character of each beautiful individual. Can we actually tell who is shortly graduating in AI, or who is the professional poker player, who took care of his beloved aunty or is following a dream to be a professional DJ, an art collector, a cook or a rapper. Who is extremely polite and who is incredibly positive. Who’ s always late and who overcame a lot of suffering? Young men in their twenties in their own choice of clothing in a location of their choice. Just as they are, each in his own uniqueness.
