During one of my hikes I couldn’t stop thinking about how beautiful our planet is and how deeply I am in love with it. My concerns are ever growing and so is my need to express these concerns.
With this serie of five photograms, I visualise one of the cycles of consumerism and its negative impact on our environment. During my hikes I collected garbage and some of it is used to create the photograms. The photograms depict the release of greenhouse gases. I subjected the photograms to the mordançage, thus showing the destructive nature of those gases. The centerpiece is a combination of a photograph and a photogram. It provides a glimpse of what we can still enjoy or what one day may be a vague memory. To complete the cycle I include the viewer by using mirrors.
Most of my work invites the viewer to become part of the artwork, by using mirrors or by creating an installation. When creating an installation a viewer becomes part of the installation, simply by choosing to enter the installation or view it from the outside. For Particles - The greenhouse gases, I chose to use mirrors since we are all part of this cycle.
