Paddy Irishman photographs those identifying as Irish and male and called 'Pat', 'Paddy' or 'Patrick' to show there is no typical 'Paddy' and challenge lingering historical stereotypes about Irish males.
The series captures 50 Paddies diverse in age, background, ethnicity and sexuality. This new narrative, exploring identity on the island of Ireland, is told through their stories. No longer the punchline to a 'Paddy Irishman' joke.
The work seeks to consider identity on our island, our common humanity, and uncovers how much our society has changed and the values that have remained, through personal stories and lived history across several generations, leading to the authentic story of contemporary Ireland and the Irish.
