My self-portraits with shadows are made during my long urban walks. The ones I'm showing here were taken on the spot, without any prior staging. Only because the place, the light and the situation were inspiring and surprising. These photos are a questioning of oneself at a precise moment when one notices the image of one's own presence. A mirror that lets the portrait appear furtively. The projected portrait becomes a very dark graphic form, two-dimensional in its appearance but opening up the field of the unknown and therefore of reflection. These shots, stolen from myself, are of course a faithful projection of myself, an imprint, but they could also suggest that the person projected could also be that of the viewer. The photos are taken during short sessions when the sun projects them onto the city screen. This gives them a very special character, with very different identities depending on their context.
