Transitional Realms

In "Transitional Realms," I aim to delve into the profound poetics embedded within urban spaces undergoing transition, weaving together a narrative that reflects the dynamic relationship between these spaces and their inhabitants. Rooted in my background in urban studies and influenced by my experiences in Iran and the United States, this collection seeks to illuminate the constant state of becoming and the rich tapestry of herstories that reside within these realms. The artworks presented in "Transitional Realms" stem from my ongoing body of work titled "II," where I extend the boundaries of portraiture to explore the nuances of transitional moments. With imagery captured both in the United States and Iran, through a series of black and white and color photographs capturing individuals, cities, landscapes, and still lifes, this series invites viewers to contemplate the fluidity of interiors merging into exteriors, echoing mental states of connection and disassociation across cultural and geographical boundaries.
