Till Death Do Us Part bares witness to the struggles of mortality, aging, and grief. When Covid erupted within the United States, I made the immediate decision to move my parents to live with my husband and me in our home in Azle TX. The first weeks were difficult but slowly their health improved and they began to enjoy life again. I asked for and they granted me unlimited access to photograph their daily lives, offering a rare glimpse into the challenges and beauty of the elderly couple.
When Dad died suddenly after a fall, Mom struggled to find meaning to continue living. Depression, grief in all its forms were our constant. I continued to photograph Mom, watching her spirit evaporate. All too shortly, she chose to discontinue her fight and joined Dad.
