This is a small depiction of my range of interests in portraiture, from no-frills imagery to staged, whimsical work. Portraiture is a relatively recent passion of mine, and I greatly enjoy both ends of this represented spectrum.
At the Earnest end I was very pleased that Blanca was willing to be a muse for the images that are included here. Any time that I can make images which feel personal, I’m gratified. And I enjoy a wide range of personalities and emotions, which is the reason I included the lighthearted image of Adrian.
Regarding Whimsical work, I’m a playful person and portraiture provides a special opportunity to play. There is a much different kind of joy available from making images like “Cycling Dreams” and “Self-Made Mushroom Man”. When we work with playful concepts such as those depicted, the process can be as much fun as the results, whether it’s a personal project or a commercial one.
Yes, I’m serious about creating quality work, but life is short. The chance to connect, create, and contribute to others is almost inconceivably precious. So very precious.
