Watching the Grass Grow is an ongoing photographic essay on climate change, research, and the people who make climate science a reality. The project has taken place during Justin’s time as a biology graduate student working in the Arctic Ecology Program at Grand Valley State University in Michigan. It is an inside perspective showing the inner workings of typical research field seasons above the Arctic circle; following the people involved, how data is collected, and highlighting the human aspect of science and direct impacts of climate change.
