The Mutoid Waste Company is a renowned art collective led by Joe Rush and a bunch of genius punk artists.
Emerging in the mid-80s from the English Travelers movement, the group is known for its radical approach to creating art from industrial waste and discarded materials. Their installations and performances often feature massive sculptures, cyberpunk robots, and MadMax-inspired vehicles, transforming industrial debris into visually striking pieces that challenge societal norms, emphasizing themes of environmentalism, and strongly criticizing war and consumerism. Nowadays the Mutoid's art still astounds masses of people all over the world at festivals like Glastonbury and Burning Man.
Since 2019 I’ve been chasing the protagonists of the Mutoid Waste Company across the globe to portray them in their natural environment, the workshop, to give a hint of the creative process behind such awesome pieces, with the hope that their art may inspire new generations of artists and cultural rebels globally.
