Glow/This is a single exposure that I shot on the mountains near Cape Town last June, on a cold winter evening. The Milky Way is visible behind the clouds as well as a little shooting star. The light comes from the distant 4 million people city, I guess.

Kokerboom/Aloe dichotoma, one of the 3 species of Aloe that grow in the wild only in northwestern South Africa and southern Namibia. Called Kokerboom in Afrikaans and Quiver Tree in English.All 3 are protected by law and declared vulnerable in the Red List of the IUCN (International Union for the Conservation of Nature).

Augrabies / After meandering for more than 1,500 Km in soft soil, the longest river of South Africa meets the sandy soil of the Kalahari, where it splits in several branches.Then, the river meets an area of granite rocks, where all these branches join and dig a canyon in a place that the San called Augrabies (= the place of great noise).The river is the Orange or Gariep.
