Nature is often perceived by humans as merely an external object, something to be utilized for its resources or enjoyed for its visual appeal. However, this perspective overlooks the depth of nature and the potential for understanding one's own existence through it. Viewing nature solely as a reservoir of resources or as a picturesque scene limits one's relationship with the world.
The Cartesian philosophical movement created a separation between humans and nature. The thinking individual internalized the belief that they were different from nature and had the right to dominate it.
As two photographers in this project, we spent time around an olive tree in a village near Istanbul, trying to feel a part of nature.
In this context, understanding the importance of creating a culture of living in connection with nature, without separating it, and transforming the consequences and destruction of the anthropocentric approach that has prevailed in the last century is a necessity.
