Street Walking

Street Walking........ Colin Westerbeck in his book A History of Street Photography states that "the beginnings of street photography in the United States can be linked to that jazz in the music domain both emerging as outspoken depictions of everyday life". My main influence with my own street photography is Helen Levitt, whose lyrical work was a direct result of her love of walking and her desire to immerse herself in the "infinite and fugitive' of the street. Fascinated by the simplest marks and most fleeting gesture and moments, Levitt responded to this theater of the streets by creating photographs that are lyrical, uncontrived, and mysterious.
