Jesus is My Slut

June 25, 2023. At the Pride Festival in Silver Spring, Maryland, a street corner is infiltrated by evangelist priests. With sound speakers at a deafening pitch, they preach that Pride attendees will face hell and damnation, yet they hide their faces behind bibles. It becomes a battle of sound and song as the LGBTQ+ crowd dances and sings joyfully to drown out the priests’ messages of hate and sin. They are successful as many in the crowd join them. 2023 has seen a record-breaking number of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation introduced around the U.S. Hundreds of anti-LGBTQ+ bills are in place to limit or ban the rights of trans youth. I am an ally and through my photography, I am standing up to the daily harassment, discrimination and marginalization facing the LGBTQ+ community. Through photos, I stand up for LGBTQ+ rights.
