BLACK SWAN (2022) is a series of 5 photographs created by the artist Fabiana Nunes in collaboration with the dancer Felipe Alves.
The idea was to bring lightness and beauty to the male universe of dance. The photo shoot was done in the studio, using a low key and exploring a long exposure, and a second curtain flash to create the desired effect.
The photographs are in black and white, and the dancer uses only a white and transparent fabric as a prop.
The strong and masculine body, shaped like a sculpture with light and fragile fabric floating around, symbolizes the balance between the genders. "In all my work, I try to bring awareness for equality in our society. "
The Black Swan name came up because of Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake". Felipe, the model, is a professional dancer and wanted to bring his black roots into our shooting. Felipe's mother was a beautiful black woman.
