From south India in 2010, the photographs depict details of political street murals and other hand-painted outdoor advertisements commonly found in the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala at the time. Knowing next to nothing about the local and regional politicians, I draw no conclusions about their character as actors on the political stage. Rather, I choose to celebrate the hand-painted murals for what can be seen, without foreknowledge or judgment: observing the mesmerizing art, and the miracle of color and typography expressed in the painters' skill. The chickens-for-sale signs were likewise intriguing, though they don't get to vote.

Disclaimer: The chickens were painted roadside advertisements coexisting in the same environment, and were not intended to support or critique any of the political candidates.
