African Dog Walks

These are iPhone 4 shots that I take while walking my Africanis umZiki. I then edit the images on the phone with different effects. “The Africanis is a landrace of South African dogs. It is believed to be of ancient origin, directly descended from hounds and pariah dogs of ancient Africa, introduced into the Nile Valley from the Levant.” Wikipedia “The Africanis dog should be walked daily to fulfil their primal canine instinct to walk. The earliest evidence of these dogs in South Africa is dated round 570 AD however their earliest presence has been established in Egypt and dated at 4700 BC.” Wikipedia Often referred to as “brak” meaning mongrel or mixed breed the Africanis is far from that and these images are an attempt to counter what is essentially a European Colonial view of this very noble and loyal dog.
