Seeking Refuge

Over the course of three years, I visited the immigration centres on the island of Malta several times. I would spend a week, two weeks at a time with some of the young women who had chosen to leave their homes in Africa in search of a better life in Europe. For some, the reasons behind their journeys were political, for others, cultural or economic. All however were united in their desire to feel safe, to be 'home'.
