FORMS OF THE INVISIBLE

Investigating the unknowable, the abyss that humans inhabit through the camera: this is the synthesis of my photography poetics. No longer what is left outside, what is visible and traceable in the appearances of reality. No longer the representation of material reality and its manifestations. But instead, a representation of the invisible, of the images that are hidden from the eyesight but are there, waiting to be discovered, just as real as reality. Exterior and interior. Outside and inside. Opposite poles that mutate, enter inside us (me) and become human landscapes. What interests me is therefore the use of the camera to show my life experiences by going beyond “actual reality”; of things and people. Photography as a search for the absolute. The day after the earthquake of L’Aquila on 6 April 2009, I felt the need to give voice to my city and their people by investigating both the objective deformations of the material and urban structure, and the dramatic subjective experiences. This was the starting point of my art research: from there, many thematic projects with the aim of investigating different aspects of the condition of city after the earthquake and beyond were born.
