Solace - Skies Of Iceland is a project featuring 60 photographs of Icelandic skies taken during 3 trips between 2017 and 2021. My first trip to the country, in 2017, happened only a few months after my mother passed away. From my grief, this project was born. At the time I found myself seeking the comfort of nature and the immensity of Icelandic landscapes provided that. Over the years this need continued, as did my visits to the country. During those trips, while driving around its vast landscapes, I saw myself looking at and photographing the skies. Most photos in the series were taken from a car and they felt like a natural act of resilience. There was no place for my grief, so I put it into my creative expression. I have the hope of transporting the viewer to that feeling I had of being immersed in my surroundings, overwhelmed by its beauty, curious about its strange cloud formations, and unsure about my circumstances. There, I found solace in a time of turmoil.
