This is a project that contains series of photos taken at different times momentarily. It has been inspired by the time, memory, place and change in a very turbulent geography like Cyprus. In many areas, Cyprus is a soil where past and present is in constant negotiation, meaning, making meaning of the present, place and the context is weaved around the conflicts and the unrest occurred in the past which takes hostage of the present. The project examines how in time objects, places, belongings reflect our psyche, in a country where we feel at home but at the same time we feel stranger and outsider. With the felt impact of the postmodern capitalist desire, we tend to rehabilitate our souls with fast consumption, junking what we have and replacing it with new ones- I see this as a mechanism to console our restlessness, our agitation or our present agony. The state in incompleteness, the state of despair. The past was just a melancholia(*as in the hanger photo), a nice song or a tune that reverberates the idyllic beauty and our joyful times, memories and lives, Present is just a consumable pain.
