During the 2020 lockdown I started photographing my local Jackdaw population. Over the next couple of years this developed into something much deeper as I started to explore the relationship between the birds and their environment and importantly the negative space between the two. As I have developed the work is increasingly becoming more abstract.
I don't do any retouching on the photographs but I do spend a long time on each image as I prepare it for print. The subtle tones and level of contrast make a huge impact. I probably spend as much time crafting the final image as I do taking them.
