New Amsterdam

These images are part of a project I am working on about the city of New Amsterdam, a town in the east of Guyana, close to the border with Suriname. My mother is from New Amsterdam, and I was inspired to document the town's life when, one day, I tried to show university friends what it was like and found that the internet had almost no images of the place, and, of these, very few that were taken within the last half-century.
