Houston Reflections, Christmas Day, 2023

My goal in creating art is to help the viewer discover beauty that is "hidden" right in front of them. Reflections of buildings on their neighbors, in sightlines above where we usually are looking , fits that theme. I was enchanted by the colorful, graceful and fantastic reflections I found in Downtown Houston, merely by looking up. The disorder of the reflections displayed on the orderliness of architecture and engineering feats adds to the delight of "discovering" these images. We often are wearing blinders as we move through space and light, only seeing our next destination in our minds' eye as we move from place to place. This collection is about stopping to notice the sometimes surprising beauty all around us. Houston is not known for sunny days, but we have many sunny days and sunny hours on cloudy days. We enjoy comfortable temperatures 8-9 months of the year, On Christmas Day 2023, we had one such sparkling and comfortable day; my dog and I were in the mood for a walk and for discovering "hidden beauty". Thus was born Houston Reflections, Christmas Day, 2023.
