SILENT SCREAMS FORM A SYMPHONY OF ACHE.
LIKE FLASHES OF THE MOST DAZZLING COLORS,
THEY PENETRATE THE BODY.
THIS MOSAIC OF PAIN IS STRONGER THAN A KISS OF
CAFFEINE AND COKE.
IT GIVES ME THE FEELING OF BEING ALIVE.
BROKEN AND ALIVE AT THE SAME TIME.
HOW CAN I BE CLOSE TO MYSELF WHEN INDIVIDUAL
PARTS OF MY BODY LEAD A LIFE OF THEIR OWN?
In my ongoing project „The Power and Poetry of Pain“ I deal with the topic of chronic pain.
I have built sculptures from whimsical and medical objects, flowers, pins, nails and
taxidermy. I combine them with self portraits.
By using perishable materials, I refer to our own transience.
Vanitas symbols and vitality are reflected simultaneously in one and the same sculpture and
even stability and fragility form a symbiosis.
My artistic practice defies the traditional quietus and black and white optic often associated
with pain, instead choosing to confronts the viewer with candy pop colors and unusual
compositions.
These combinations invite us to explore our own vulnerability.
