I am an observer of street life and at the same time a part of it. In the public space I come by chance across people whose clothes, movements, posture and expression reveal something of their inner world. I don't want to know about their lives, it's enough for me to watch them pass by, preserving their mystery. I keep returning to the same places, which change with the seasons, the weather, the time of day and the people who pass by. I like populated, city-centre locations that allow me to pass more or less unnoticed, so that I can obtain candid shots. Each person photographed is a universe in itself. A photograph taken in the street represents a moment in my existence that is linked to that of the people I pass, a unique moment that I like to look back on with hindsight and sometimes with emotion.
