The photographs being submitted were taken by Jonathan Reichek who died November 1, 2023. As his wife, and sole heir, the photos and their copyright pass to me under California law. So I am submitting the photographs to help honor Jonathan's legacy.
Jonathan was always interested in people, politics and human rights.
Jonathan wanted to do something photographically interesting involving a cutting-edge, human rights related subject, from a unique perspective. So, over two decades Jonathan shot up to 18 rolls of black and white film at the Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco. Jonathan used a camera, with a remote, mounted on a stick to take the photographs from the ground view. This resulted in some very dramatic photographs.
