I've been photographing mothers and daughters for many years. Some have been posed photos, but most have been candids, taken mostly in Wisconsin and Illinois. Most of my photos have been taken at street or ethnic festivals, farmers' markets, county and state fairs. community dances, and other public places.
As a people photographer exclusively, I'm fascinated with capturing special moments that are here and then gone. I like to capture emotions and relationships, and have found that relationships between and among mothers and daughters are the most interesting in the human pantheon. You see warmth, great love, tenderness, caring, devotion, pride, and usually a lot of fun. You see the joy of being together. Sometimes you also see disappointment, envy, resentment, or hurt feelings. It's all there.
In my photographs, I've tried to capture the beauty of some mothers and daughters as well as what I can of their special connection.
