London = Gloom

Equipment used: Sony a7rii with 28mm lens Fujifilm x100v This is 10 of 34 photographs of the project that I finished recently. The purpose of the series is to capture the gloomy, nocturnal, nearly depressing mood associated with the outskirts of London by focusing on back streets, alleyways, and evocative building structures. As the project continually evolved, my intention was to capture visually themes like the integration of the natural and built environments, industrial cityscapes and the effects of poverty on people. My inspiration came from Japanese photographers such as Yasuhiro Ogawa and Daido Moriyama and I acknowledge their impact in terms of how my project took shape.
