From the Series 'On the Shore'. Last spring I spent two months in the Philippines where I was volunteering as scuba-diver for a NGO in Negros Oriental helping locals learn dive and also for a Marine Conservation Centre and Coral Farm in Legaspi. My everyday life was simple and...Blue. Sleeping outside on a hammock by the ocean…waking up at sunrise and closing my eyes with the sound of waves crushing as lullaby. Everything was a matter of wind and waves, clouds and rain, moon and tide… Happy smiles, songs and laughs… until the sky turned purple and then… fires in the dark and silence. Ready to get my gear on and dive deep… discovering a completely different world under that clear mirror surface with bamboo floating and kids jumping. WATER was the Element…of my life on the shore.
