Have you ever taken a photograph and instantly known it would be a good one? That’s exactly what happened to me with this shot. This image was taken on the terrace located on the 100th floor of The Edge in Manhattan. On a rainy summer afternoon, and at a height of 340 meters, the winds are particularly strong. As we stepped out onto the terrace, we were met with an unexpected gust of wind that triggered all sorts of reactions: from shock to discomfort, from surprise to laughter. Definitely a great spot for spontaneous photos. When I saw this group of women approaching the door leading to the outdoor terrace, I decided to wait with my camera ready. The woman with the red hair especially caught my eye. As they stepped out and were hit by the intense gust of wind, the three of them began to spin and gesture. Their hair, their dresses, everything was flying. As I was shooting, I couldn’t help but think of David Bowie’s song Let’s Dance.
