General Entry - Emerging Talent Awards

There are many abandoned places in Newfoundland, it's history has greatly contributed to that. None has captured my imagination more than Trinity Loop, a disused railway line that was turned into a theme park in the 1980's. It was closed around 2004 due to dwindling attendance and then a few years ago a hurricane went through causing more damage. It is not on the map and there are no signposts for it, as though it no longer exists. A friend told me about this place, she went there as a child when it was in it's heyday. That immediately gave me a connection to the place, bringing it to life with her memories. Trinity Loop also took me back to my childhood and the day trips we made to Butlins in the 1960's. I shot these images with my iPhone and manipulated them to evoke the colors of my memories, along with the almost Chernobyl-esque effect of the damage and decay.
