When I started taking photos on the streets of Rome, I always wondered how I could create street photographs that weren't just simple images with a strong aesthetic impact. I wanted them to also have the ability to stimulate the imagination and curiosity of a hypothetical observer, capable therefore of transmitting even the slightest emotion and, why not, even genuine amazement. I considered that all this for a photographer like me who lives in this city and is accustomed to its daily life, was to transform himself (even in his dress) into a simple tourist who visits it for the first time.I imagined his curiosity, his enthusiasm and his desire to see and know every corner of Rome. I mentally imagined how it would feel to have a camera and take pictures in the chaotic crowd of Rome, other tourists or ordinary citizens of this city, with the gaze of someone who is totally new to it.
I can't really gauge how much I've actually succeeded with this idea so far. But that's my intent!
