This year, in Peru, during a workshop with photographer Ernesto Bazan, particularly while participating in the festival of the 'compadres,' a celebration of friendship among people, I sensed a deep harmony between the people and their environment, the mountains, which are considered sacred by these communities as a direct expression of Pacha Mama, Mother Earth, a deity who represents not only the soil but the whole.
The deep union between these communities and their environment inspired me to create “Bajo las nubes,” a reportage characterized by a strongly contrasted black and white, aimed at evoking the ancient power of this mystical bond and the magical atmosphere of Peru's rain-soaked mountains.
This project represents for me the first step toward closing a still open circle that I will try to close by expanding this project and that I hope will mark the beginning of a long photographic journey. I also hope that the photographs, which are only part of the work that has been done, can provoke reflection on the relationship between man and nature and the importance of the ways in which we inhabit the environment, inspiring us to live in harmony with our planet.
