Greece Portfolio, the space between the past and present
I began my my Holga camera projects to have the ability to compose continuous narratives by shooting multiple frames on one strip of film with no interruption. The frames bleed into each other, suggesting a cinematic panorama with its inherent implication of time adding another dimension to the work.
The Greece portfolio chronicles the powerful dynamic between the past and the present .By reinventing and reconstructing history we are able to construct a human perspective that can be understood as having no beginning nor ending in how we look at history.
Chance and serendipity plays a role where I can explore the notion of time passing where nothing is permanent. It is a dialogue that is both fragmented and animated.By breaking up spaces in a non-linear way I am shifting both perception and perspective. The visual disjunction and repetition dissolves and blurs the viewers assumptions about space, time ,place and memory.
