Unimaginative Stereotypical Dutch Portrait is an ongoing project to treat bikes as the subject for portraiture of Dutch people. The selected picture is part of the Kinky series. Suggesting asphyxiophilia. This body of work is still immature and evolving.
Bike as the stereotype of the Netherlands and by using them, living since a few years partially in the Netherlands and being a second generation born in Belgium from Lebanese parent, the way you are perceive is always charged of stereotypes. Treating bikes as people in this project in order to try to anthropomorphize the interaction, using suggestion as the vehicle of emotions. This is also for my own fun to explore the our own capacity of to project emotion, identification or connexion with inanimate objects.
The end goal for this project is mostly to be printed as a multi-volume zine of specific series.
