A Perfect Life

A cinematic, 1960’s styled series that tells the story of this beautiful, seemingly perfect couple who are living a lie because the husband is in love with another man. This was a time when `normality' was the condition most honoured and prized in society, and to be just like everyone else was not merely the greatest goal to which one could aspire, but it came to define the very value one had as a human being. The characters lead a life of quiet desperation, trapped in their stifling setting, but fully aware of each other's pain. The series attempts to capture the sadness of a man who desperately wants to live the life he's chosen but who can no longer fight against the truth of his own nature as well as the sorrow of a woman who yearns to be loved and touched. Even though we, as a society, have come very far from this, it is still a reminder of the great psychological damage that can be inflicted on an individual when repression and conformity are encouraged at all costs.
