This project explores the unintended consequences of new energy policies aimed at decarbonization, which are ironically harming the natural environment. When I first saw a massive solar power plant built where a forest once stood, it felt like a visceral loss, as though my own skin had been peeled away. It was a painful shock for someone who holds a deep respect for nature. Before I realized it, these solar panels were rapidly spreading into forests across Japan, altering the landscape in ways that feel far from the legacy we should be leaving for future generations. I couldn’t stand idly by. Driven by this urgency, I set out with my camera and drone to document the expansion of mega solar power plants throughout the country.
