After denouncing the violence suffered by our planet and by children, it was natural for me to tackle the subjects of war and peace in the world.
During a visit to the PICZ studio in Zurich, I decided to work once again with a model, Awhisn (an acronym for “Anonymous Was His Name”). As my work is always based on strong contrasts and paradoxes, I chose to photograph a soldier to promote peace. Letting his body express itself to the rhythm of the music, the soldier transforms into a dancer, eventually sketching out the sign of victory or that of peace.
The title of this series, “Peace and Violence”, came to me on my flight back to Washington, when I discovered Stromae's song of the same name.
