The loss

THE FEAR OF LOSS AND THE LOSS OF FEAR. In a scenario of loss, the human being generates a multitude of emotions. Among the brain's responses to absence, one of the predominant ones is fear, with a wide range of nuances. Fear in projective minds brings with it nightmares, images that tear apart the insides with vivid colors and, on other occasions, with the formalism of black and white. I try to confront fear by letting it give birth, acting as a midwife to give birth to images of figures in flames and silhouettes that meow. In the present proposal, the amalgam of conjugated images and the formal differences themselves give rise to a kind of contrasts that, despite or precisely because of their differences, vibrate around the alienation that occurs when fear takes hold of the chest. The rhythm of the works aims to allow the spectator to soak up them in a dynamic way. Without being literal, there is an invitation to a vibrant and suggestive reading through iconic images due to their composition, the use of different techniques and the allusion to the atavisms and/or archetypes of loss. The images, despite their possible abstract appearance, contain fears as deep as they are common: the fear of loneliness, of losing one's homeland, one's health, one's sanity or one's own identity. Fear of the loss of friends, parents, spouse or, for me the most terrible of all, the loss of children.
