One Day in November

Bike couriers have developed their own culture since their inception, despite growth and professionnalisation. They provide ample opportunities for individual lifestyle choices, resulting in a wide range of motivations for working as a bike courier. Bike couriers started as rebels, became style icons, and have remained idealists. At their headquarters, one does not feel like they are in a workplace, but rather in a shared flat, characterised by a strong sense of community. The experience is one of constant change, alternating between order and chaos, and between hectic and calm. In addition to the work on the bikes, various tasks are taken care of by the people at the headquarters. One Day in November is a photo-documentary project about the everyday life of bicycle couriers in Lucerne (CH). The project captures the sensual and emotional aspects of the bicycle couriers' working environment through photographs. Despite the adverse weather conditions, the team remained upbeat and collaborated to maintain a positive atmosphere. As a photographer, I was happy to see their teamwork and positivity despite the difficult conditions.
