As the last time the world changed, as much as it is about to change in the foreseeable future, was 400.000 years ago, these “Sky Diaries” serve as both a personal manifesto for sustainable travel and a tribute to our planet’s fleeting wonders. It offers an alternative to humanity's relentless pursuit of exotic places, closer to home, while preserving memories of what may soon change irrevocably. There is no moral posture in such a message, merely a pragmatic adaptation to maintain what can be.
These series, were initiated in 2019 during a 10-days hiking trip around the Cotentin peninsula, then another 5-days hiking trip on Normandy’s Côte d’Albâtre, a week in Auvergne and finally a week cross-country skiing in the Maurienne valley at the Italian border in the French Alps.
Such an engagement with nature came about as I was on the path to reconnecting with myself, which brought up a capacity to feel again and the desire to express these feelings. Spending days walking outside in the fresh air is exhilarating both physically and mentally, becoming a refuge for the body and the mind and allowing one to find oneself.
