Everything started a few years ago when my life was put on hold because of mental and physical exhaustion. I remembered the camera I had purchased years earlier and found it in a drawer. I always wanted to learn photography, understand it, and now the time had come. I switched it to manual mode and never looked back. Together with my daily walks and lots of rest photography became my life line. Early on I discovered Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) and started to experiment with it. What intrigued me was the somewhat painterly effect and the type of abstraction it created, giving the images more of a feeling. What is it that catches my eye and why? Can I capture the essence of things? I enjoy the process of finding places, objects and compositions in my close surroundings, playing with camera settings and movement and seeing the images come to life in post-production. This selection of images is a cross-section of what I created using ICM during the last couple of years. All are single exposure ICMs, no multiple exposures in camera or compositing in post. It is a work in progress, slowly growing and developing and so is my approach to life itself.
