"THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MEETING OF LAND AND WATER IN THE WORLD," write the Australian landscape photographer Francis McComas. It has been a pilgrimage and a holy place to me for many years. I met Ansel Adams there long ago. After I told him how I loved to come there, wander the trails and photograph, he was silent for a moment. Mr. Adams then looked up from under his big black hat and said, "How I envy you." He was ill and near death from emphysema and could not go out with his big heavy camera and photograph. That was all that mattered. It was a valuable lesson and I grieve for the master. To do what you love is the meaning of life.
