"Notes on 'Camp'" is a documentary series that follows 'Sweet Beef Theatre' - a queer, fringe theatre collective from London, UK.
Their show "Crying Shame", directed by queer theatre maker Jess Haygarth, 2024, explores the loneliness and vulnerability of queer individuals, and the fragility of being queer.
In their words - "It’s a cabaret. A wellness journey. A 10 step programme. All about loneliness… I know, how embarrassing."
The series provides insight into the performers' meditative world as they transform into their characters, from rehearsals to show day.
The rehearsals and the show took place at Stanley Arts’ iconic venue in south London.
The title references Susan Sontag's essay "Notes on ‘Camp’" from 1964.
