Wo Lag Das Paradies?

In 1689, Louis XIV called the French Academy in order to develop research so he could find the true ‘Paradise Earth’, wich is mentioned many times in the Book of Genesis. The conclusions of such research were never known, but a remote place on the Iberian Peninsula, Las Hurdes, came out of the investigation. Some centuries later, that spot started to be known as the Cursed Paradise. This project wants to give documentary evidence of such location, situated in the north of Extremadura, Spain, from a unique perspective. By using the influences of the surrealistic imaginary that Buñuel left behind his documentary "Tierra sin pan"(1932), together with the legends told by the natives and the fact that this is the site with the most records on unexplained phenomena in Spain, this project tries to make us question our own believes, underlining the symbiosis between past and present, in a land bound to its traditions and forbidden to forget their origins and their magical and ancestral memory.
