I had the honor of working with a couple of models who are skilled in the art of contact improvisation, a form of dance. It is usually done clothed and indoors, but they had the idea to do it nude and outdoors. So we popped down to the South Yuba River. As I looked at the results, I was pleased to see something I don't often see. The models' skill allowed them to fully engage with each other physically, without it automatically seeming erotic.
The photographs are all done using ultraviolet light from the sun and a full spectrum camera with a UV bandpass filter. This gives an inherently monochrome image and gives it a certain, sometimes subtle effect. UV rays do not penetrate the skin as much as visible light, which can make it look darker and dustier. This ultraviolet technique is rarely used this extensively for art photography, but I like the challenge.
