"Expressions of the Soul" is a visual investigation into the tension between the visible form and the inner essence. Inspired by Schopenhauer’s philosophy of "The World as Will and Representation", this series seeks to pierce the 'Veil of Maya'—the illusion of everyday reality—to reveal the raw, pulsating 'Will' that resides beneath the surface of the picture.
Through a dialogue between light and shadow, the human body is not treated as a mere aesthetic object but as a vessel for a deeper, more ancient narrative. The play of reflections through glass, the dynamic movement of hair, and the meditative stillness of a lotus pose serve as metaphors for the soul's journey. These images capture the duality of the human condition: the fragility of our physical representation and the indomitable strength of our inner dreams—those "great dreams" that, like ships in the deep, anchor us to our truest selves.
By stripping away the superfluous, the project invites the viewer to look beyond the gaze, finding a space where the poetic and the philosophical converge. It is an invitation to witness the body not just as it appears, but as it feels: a silent, powerful expression of the soul.
