Erlichtungen

Navigating urban space at night triggers a process of inner questioning and reinvention. In the series 'Erlichtungen'—a title that plays on the German words for 'enlightenment' (Erleuchtung) and 'clearing' (Lichtung)— the phenomenon of reflection is not used just as a visual motif, but as a metaphor for the evolution of one’s own artistic identity. These photographs do not seek to document: instead, they question the boundary between perception and reality, thereby also capturing a state of transition. Where interior and exterior worlds overlap on a glassy surface, a third, ambivalent space emerges. This corresponds to an internal process of searching, doubting, and becoming: what is already known merges with what is yet to be discovered. In the context of this work, embracing ambiguity becomes a definitive act of self-empowerment.
